PICKERING Town have the task of putting a dent in Silsden’s title hopes in the Northern Counties Eastern League Premier Division on Saturday.
Tony Hackworth’s side will host current leaders Silsden at Mill Lane on Saturday (3pm) with the visitors able to clinch promotion, should they win, and second-placed Hallam lose.
Silsden could win if they were beaten by Pickering, but would again need Hallam to lose, with a seven point gap currently at the top.
Golcar United also remain in the title conversation with a game in hand, but being nine points adrift, it would take a lot for the West Yorkshire side to pip their rivals to the title.
Pickering’s recent run of defeats has seen their own play-off ambitions come to an end, having suffered back-to-back losses against Beverley Town and Bottesford Town.
It means that the Pikes are ten points adrift, with two games left of the campaign.
Elsewhere, Tadcaster Albion are on their travels, again on a Friday night, when visiting Barton Town (7.45pm).
Both teams have already confirmed safety for the season, and therefore are both playing for nothing in the NCEL.
A win could close the gap on 16th placed Eccleshill United, who are six points ahead, whilst Barton are in 14th but could reach 10th with a win.
Five straight defeats for the Swans was recently disrupted by a 1-0 win against Campion, whilst Tadcaster held promotion-chasers Albion Sports to a 2-2 stalemate last Friday.
Selby Town remain our only club to be in the chase for promotion, with four games left of the Robins’ season.
They are currently seven adrift of Dearne & District in the play-offs, before Selby head to Club Thorne Colliery on Saturday (3pm).
Having celebrated four wins in their last five, the other result being a draw, Ryan Cooper’s team have momentum on their side.
Club Thorne on the other hand sit comfortably in midtable, with just one win in five.
