Rob Elliott of Crawley Town became the latest League One manager to depart.
The Red Devils, who were promoted last season from League Two, were facing an uphill battle to remain in the division when key players and manager Scott Lindsay departed in pre-season.
Currently sat 22nd heading into the final nine matches, Crawley sit 12 points adrift of safety.
Only last week, Crawley held Reading to a 1-1 draw at Broadfield Stadium, scoring an 89th-minute equaliser through Pantuche Camara.
Elliott, a former Premier League goalkeeper with Newcastle United, had previously won the FA Trophy with non-league Gateshead before stepping up to League One in October.
Winning six of his 33 matches, Elliott's second match in charge was a 4-1 defeat to Reading back in October, less than a week after taking charge.
Louis Storey will take control of the squad as Interim Head Coach, with Anthony Sweeney supporting him as Interim Assistant Head Coach.
