Former AC Milan, Rangers and Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso was involved in an extraordinary bust-up with a pundit live on TV.

Gattuso, now in charge of Croatian outfit Hajduk Split following short managerial stints at Fiorentina, Valencia and Marseille, saw his side beaten 3-0 by Rijeka on Sunday in a huge game in this season’s title race.

The result sees Hajduk Split drop down to second place in the table, two points behind Rijeka with 10 games of the campaign remaining.

However, it was the post-match interview with Croatian sports channel MAXSport1 that has gone viral as Gattuso was clearly upset about previous comments made by Josko Jelicic.

Upon arriving to fulfil his media obligations, Gattuso refused to shake the hand of the former Hajduk Split star, now-turned-pundit, and said: “I won't give an answer to you, you speak too much.”

Gattuso then continued his rant: "You used to play football, you should understand, you know very well the situation.

"But you always speak very bad. I don't have respect for you. You speak very bad. I don't want to speak with you."

Jelicic then responded in Spanish by saying "You played very bad!" This only enraged Gattuso further as he fired back with: "You have to have respect for people."

As the pair started shouting over each other, Gattuso attempted to get in the last word: "This is the last time. If you are here, I won't talk to you anymore, because you are a bad person."

However, Jelicic called Gattuso "a foreigner" and said: "You come from Italy, you have to respect all of the people here."

Presenter Valentina Miletic was eventually able to bring the situation under control as she then began to quiz Gattuso about Hajduk’s heavy defeat.
