YORK City Ladies are into the Women’s North Riding County Cup final.

For the second year running, the Minsterbelles stormed into the County Cup final, running away with an emphatic 13-0 victory against Redcar Athletic Ladies.

York reached the same point last season and played at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium - celebrating a 10-0 victory over Thornaby Women to be crowned champions.

They will be hoping to celebrate a similar accolade, especially after an incredible run to this point.

Emily Senior’s side defeated Northallerton Town Women 20-0 in the previous round and had a home walkover against Boro Rangers Women.

They are now set to face Middlesbrough Women’s under-23’s in the final, with the date and location still to be confirmed, after Boro defeated York’s Development side 4-0 on Sunday.

The action started early on as City took the lead just two minutes.

Jess Holder registered her first when an effort bobbled awkwardly for the opposition goalkeeper, rolling beneath her.

Karli Smith headed wide from a corner, before a second corner just two minutes later was curled directly in by Grace Sykes.

With under 15 minutes played, the advantage was stretched to three when Milly Ash rounded her marker, before identifying Sykes in the area, who was able slide a strike home.

Redcar began to grow back into the match with the hopes of salvaging a route to the final, but were dealt another blow as Holder curled a well-taken effort into the far corner from the edge of the area.

Sykes was next to hit her second in, after another curling strike made it 5-0 with 38 minutes on the clock.

Rosie Bell tried to get in on the action but was impressively kept out by the shot-stopper, before having a second effort held well.

It wouldn’t come however, with Imogen Hayhurst’s corner being forced over the line by Ruby Gore.

Ocean Rolandsen then slotted a pass through to Gore, with the winger rounding the goalkeeper for her second in the space of two minutes.

Holder nearly sealed a hat-trick when rattling the woodwork, before Ash was dragged down in the area.

Holder’s hat-trick was quickly complete, powering home from 12-yards.

Rolandsen soon added to the score with 15 minutes remaining, making it 9-0 after bending a strike home from a one-on-one.

Gore continued to make an impression when feeding the ball to Holder inside the area, with the striker slotting home a fourth of the afternoon.

And Gore would soon be rewarded for her efforts, becoming the second City player to score a ha-trick after finding the bottom corner from inside the area.

Ash was at the double next after sliding a strike into the far corner.

And the final goal of the afternoon would come in the 85th minute, as Hayhurst’s cross caused confusion inside the Redcar area and was bundled home by a defender.
