Andy Coleman is set to step away from his role as chairman at Swansea City.

WalesOnline understands Coleman is poised to return to the United States, and an official announcement confirming his imminent exit could well be made in the next few days.

Coleman first took over as chairman back in May 2023, having bought what was described at the time as a "significant shareholding" in the club. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here.

However, his tenure has been a largely turbulent one. Soon after his arrival, Coleman oversaw the appointment of Paul Watson as sporting director, and Michael Duff as first team manager. Both moves would end in disappointment.

Watson was heavily criticised for his dealings in the transfer market, and left his post in October, while Duff was sacked in the December of last season following a poor run of results.

The appointment of Luke Williams initially looked to have steered the Swans back in the right direction, but he too was dismissed last month after a run of just one win in 10 games.

Before Williams was dismissed, Coleman was at the heart of a change of ownership at the club in November, with Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien selling their controlling stake to Brett Cravatt, Nigel Morris and businessman Jason Cohen.

Coleman then oversaw a largely disastrous transfer window, which saw the club fail to strengthen in several key areas.

However, he had previously insisted supporters had every reason to be excited about the new era, having previously talked up the importance of 'reconnecting' with the club's fanbase.

"It's a fresh start because it gives us the ability to reconnect with our supporters, who need it," Coleman said after the change in ownership was completed.

"This is an opportunity for myself as chairman and for my partners in the club to deliver a club that supporters can be proud of. That this community can be proud of. So I'm really excited to see where we can go with that."

However, it seems his involvement in this alleged new chapter for the club is now coming to an end.

Swansea have declined to comment.
