Wanderers will make a late call on Will Forrester after the defender missed the win against Birmingham City.

The centre-back has impressed in recent weeks but was not risked against the Blues due to a hamstring issue.

Forrester did not train with the group on Thursday but could be back involved on Friday ahead of the Burton trip.

Ricardo Santos is back training with the group but is not ready to return to the squad this weekend.

Santos hasn’t featured since January 18 due to a pelvic injury, which he had been playing through, and had a painkilling injection last month.

Steven Schumacher says the aim is now to keep building up the 29-year-old over the “next few weeks”.

Schumacher confirmed after the Birmingham victory that Victor Adeboyejo faces a long-term absence with his knee injury.

Gethin Jones has missed the last couple of games after taking a knock to the ribs against Shrewsbury.

“Obviously Victor, we spoke about the other day,” said the head coach. “It's going to be long term. Will Forrester, we are still deciding whether he is going to be available.

“He didn't train with the main group today, he trained with the performance team. He has come away from that and says he feels OK.

“The plan is for him to join in tomorrow but we will have to see how it reacts overnight. We are hoping he will be back because he has been really good for us.

“No major issues from Tuesday night's game, just a few tired bodies and what you would expect over the last couple of days.

“Ricardo Santos joined in today for the first time. It was good to see him with the main group but he won't be available for this weekend's game, it is too soon. We are going to have to keep building him up over the next few weeks.”

There has been a buzz around the training ground after Tuesday night’s result, but Schumacher insists it is important to draw a line under it and be fully focused on Burton.

“It was a good night, we played really well and the result was brilliant,” the boss continued. “We analysed the game, drew a line under it and said, ‘Come on, full focus now is on Burton Albion’.

“They have been in really good form as well in the last eight games, and since Gary Bowyer has gone in there to be honest.

“We enjoyed the game on Tuesday night and learnt a lot from it. Now, we have got to try and put bits of that performance into Saturday's game.”
