YORK Knights have announced the return of Ben Jones-Bishop.

Jones-Bishop re-joins the Knights on a contract until the end of the 2025 season, having recently left fellow Betfred Championship side Sheffield Eagles.

Able to operate at winger or at full-back, the 36-year-old is a Jamaican international and brings welcome experience to Mark Applegarth's squad.

Jones-Bishop has spent the previous three years of his career with Sheffield, scoring 60 tries in 92 appearances, before enacting a clause in his contract that allowed him to move on for pastures new.

Prior to that Sheffield spell, Jones-Bishop had played for the Knights during the 2021 season, scoring nine tries in 19 matches.

He had begun his rugby career in 2008 with Leeds Rhinos, also having a brief stint on loan with Harlequins, before going on to accumulate 86 appearances with the West Yorkshire club.

Jones-Bishop would feature in both Betfred Challenge Cup Finals and Grand Finals for the Rhinos, as well as being a part of Leeds’ World Club Challenge winning side in 2012, scoring in the 20-12 win over Manly Sea Eagles.

In 2015 he moved on to Salford Red Devils and made 25 appearances, scoring 16 tries, before moving on to Wakefield Trinity, where Jones-Bishop would spend the next four years of his career.

A brief stint with York would follow in 2019, before the switch to the Eagles, where he has been a regular since 2022.

Jones-Bishop also brings international experience to the Knights, having represented Jamaica on six occasions, even scoring their first ever try in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.

Speaking on his newest addition, Head Coach Applegarth commented: "I'm delighted to have Bish over the line.

"He's a player I've worked with before and I'm looking forward to working with him again.

"He'll give us a bit of depth and quality in that back line and take a bit of pressure of those lads that have been covering those wing spots for us.

"We've got a proven winner. He'll add a lot of experience and value to our back five."

Jones-Bishop could make his second debut for the Knights in Sunday's Championship clash with Halifax Panthers at the LNER Community Stadium (3pm).
