Wataru Endo has admitted he's found this season tough due to the lack of minutes he has been handed by Liverpool head coach Arne Slot.

Endo has appeared 23 times this term but his appearances have only equated to 712 minutes of action — around a quarter of the amount of time he was on the pitch for during his first season at the club under Slot's predecessor, Jurgen Klopp.

The 32-year-old midfielder has been the subject of praise from Slot on several occasions due to his positive attitude in the face of personal disappointment, and he conveyed that as he addressed the press ahead of Liverpool's Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

"It has been a little tough for me because I have not played as much but all I can do is help the team," said Endo, who is not expected to line up in the first leg against PSG. "I always try to help the team and if I have a chance to play, I go all in.

"I usually come on for the last 15-20 minutes when we are winning. It is very difficult to do but I always want to help my teammates. I have been playing well so far and have helped the team. I want to keep doing well when I get the chance.

"I have had a few conversations with the manager this season. He always told me that my attitude and example to the team is unbelievable. I feel that he trusts me a lot at the moment. I will keep working hard in training and on the pitch."

On the threat PSG could pose Liverpool in the last 16, Endo said: "Offensively, they always try to play football. Their wingers are key when they attack, they have a lot of good wingers and I think [Ousmane] Dembele is the top scorer in the team so we need to take care of him. They are all good players, but also we are here to show [that] ourselves. It's going to be a very exciting game."
