Unai Emery has confirmed Pau Torres, Tyrone Mings and Matty Cash have all travelled to Brugge for Tuesday night’s Champions League round of 16 first leg at the Jan Breydel Stadium.

Mings and Cash missed Villa’s 2-0 win over Cardiff City in the FA Cup on Friday night, while Boubacar Kamara returned to the squad.

Pau Torres, meanwhile, has missed the last two months of action after breaking a metatarsal and could make his first appearance since Villa's 2-2 draw against Brighton in December.

Ross Barkley and Amadou Onana remain sidelined, while Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia are not available as they were left out of the squad for the Champions League knockout rounds.

"They are not in the squad, Onana and Barkley," Emery said in his pre-match press conference. "Malen and Garcia are not in the list. The other players are in the squad, Torres, Mings and Matty Cash. Kamara was in the squad Friday and for tomorrow he could start playing minutes."

Villa will be looking to avoid defeat or take an advantage back to Birmingham for the second leg of their round of 16 tie next Wednesday.

They lost 1-0 to Brugge in the league phase back in November, which was the Belgian side’s only victory in their last 16 matches against Premier League opposition, since a 1-0 home victory against Chelsea in the 1994/95 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup quarter-finals, a tie they lost 2-1 on aggregate.

Despite keeping a clean sheet against Villa, Brugge have conceded 17 goals in their last five matches against English clubs.

At home, they won six of their first seven games against English visitors, drawing the other, but the win against Villa was their first since beating Chelsea.

Brugge's last knockout contest against Premier League opponents ended in a 1-6 loss to Manchester United in the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League round of 32. That made their record in two-legged ties with English clubs W2 L7 with defeats in the last four.
