Aston Villa will be in the hat for the FA Cup quarter-final draw thanks to their win over Cardiff City.

Villa recorded a 2-0 win over the Bluebirds on Friday night thanks to a second-half brace from Marco Asensio.

The 29-year-old now has four goals across his first six appearances for Villa since signing on loan from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season.

Unai Emery and Co. will now enjoy a few days of rest until they take on Club Brugge in the Champions League last-16 next week.

The win over Cardiff means that Villa have a chance to win two major trophies this term, which will include the FA Cup.

Villa will be one of eight teams that will progress to the quarter-final of the FA Cup this weekend.

When is the FA Cup quarter-final draw?

The quarter-final draw for the FA Cup is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 2 following the conclusion of the fifth round tie between Manchester United and Fulham.

The draw will be conducted by Dennis Irwin and Danny Murphy and will be available to watch on the BBC.

Alternatively, Birmingham Live will be providing live updates from the draw on Sunday evening as Villa discover their opponents.

FA Cup quarter-final fixture dates

Until the draw is completed, there will be no confirmed date for when Villa will play their FA Cup quarter-final.

The round has been scheduled to take place the weekend March 29-30, meaning the fixture is likely to be played across those two days.

It's also possible the tie could be played on Friday, March 28 or Monday, March 31 depending on TV scheduling.
