Manchester City strengthened their hold on a top-four spot in the Premier League with an important victory at Tottenham on Wednesday.

The result moved the Blues back above Chelsea and within a point of Nottingham Forest in third. With Newcastle United and Bournemouth both losing in midweek, City have a three-point buffer to sixth with the top five likely to secure a place in the Champions League next season.

City face Forest in their next top-flight fixture but that is one of only three matches remaining against sides currently in the top nine, with home games with Brighton and Bournemouth to come. That schedule means Pep Guardiola's side are well-placed to finish the season strongly.
