Swindon Motorsports has extended the consultation period on a proposed new home for speedway.

This decision follows overwhelming support from motorsports fans and the public.

The consultation, which began on January 29, will now continue until March 23.

Swindon Motorsports Ltd, a joint venture between Swindon Speedway and Gaming International, said the extension was due to significant interest from the public.

An exhibition event on February 15 in Royal Wootton Bassett was attended by more than 180 people.

The proposals for Studley Grange and the new location received "overwhelming support."

The consultation invites motorsports fans, members of the public, and interested parties to submit feedback.

The consultation materials are available on the project website, swindonmotorsports.co.uk, where people can also find details on how to have their say.

Terry Russell, chairman of Swindon Motorsports and Swindon Speedway, said: "Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to engage with the consultation process so far.

"We have been blown away by the level of support for the return of speedway and encouraged by the excitement of fans who are supportive of efforts to deliver a modern multi-use facility which secures a long-term future for speedway racing in Swindon.

"We have also received invaluable feedback from residents on technical matters related to traffic, access, and parking which we will carefully consider prior to the submission of a planning application.

"Your feedback and support make a massive difference and gives us the best chance of securing a positive outcome for the return of speedway."

Feedback can be submitted via email at consultation@thirty47.co.uk or by post at FREEPOST TC CONSULTATION.

The planning application is expected to be submitted in spring, with a decision from Wiltshire Council anticipated later in the year.
