Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has moved to allay fears over a serious injury to Marc Guehi.

The centre-back played the full 90 minutes as Crystal Palace beat Aston Villa 4-1, but did receive treatment midway through the game.

England manager Thomas Tuchel was watching on from the directors’ box at Selhurst Park and is just over two weeks away from naming his first squad.

If fit, Guehi is likely to be called up for Tuchel’s first matches in charge, in which they host Albania and Latvia at Wembley in 2026 World Cup qualifiers next month.

“He felt a little bit of pain,” Glasner said of Guehi. “Fingers crossed, it is nothing serious.

“He felt pain in his knee. He can rest now for two days, but should be ready for Friday and for the Millwall game.”

Guehi has played the full 90 minutes in all but one of Palace’s Premier League matches this season.

The Ivory Coast-born defender has 22 England caps and started every match en route to the final of Euro 2024 last summer, except for the quarter-final against Switzerland for which he was suspended.

Tuchel has been attending matches up and down the country as he considers which players to call up, and has compiled a pool of 50 players he considers to be worthwhile tracking more closely.
